Kevin McCarthy is the Speaker of the House and House Republican Leader representing California’s 20th District, with extensive experience in the U.S. House of Representatives since December 2008. As Majority Leader, McCarthy has developed legislative agendas and facilitated significant reforms in healthcare and technology. Prior to this role, McCarthy served as House Majority Whip and Chief Deputy Whip, where responsibilities included counting votes for critical legislation. McCarthy’s political career began with the California State Assembly, where collaboration with colleagues and the Governor focused on budget deficit reduction and business climate enhancement. Earlier roles include a trustee position for the Kern Community College District and a District Director for Representative Bill Thomas, alongside leadership roles in the Young Republican National Federation, and experience as a small business owner. McCarthy holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from California State University, Bakersfield.
