Matthew Handverger

Matthew Handverger is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in digital strategy and political communication. Currently serving as Senior Advisor and Communications Director for Representative Mark Pocan at the U.S. House of Representatives, Matthew has a history of roles including Press Secretary for Representative David Cicilline and Digital Director for the House Democratic Caucus. Prior to this, Matthew held positions at Beaconfire RED as a Senior Digital Strategist, where achievements included substantial increases in online fundraising for non-profits. Matthew's earlier career includes diverse roles from account management at Mack/Crounse Group to organizing and strategic planning at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. A graduate of American University with degrees in American Government and Politics, as well as Communication, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government, Matthew has demonstrated a consistent capacity for leveraging digital platforms to drive engagement and political action.
