Chief Financial Officer at U.S. Naval Institute

Chip Wallen has held various financial and managerial roles throughout their career. Chip started as a Process Improvement Specialist at Milliken & Company, where they supervised production associates and performed statistical process control. Chip then moved on to TeleCable/TCI as an Assistant General Manager, where they received training in all aspects of business operations.

In 1996, Wallen joined Jones Intercable as a Business Manager before transitioning to Congressional Quarterly in 1999 as a Treasury Manager. At Congressional Quarterly, they directed revenue and cash accounting, budgeting, and collections, while also providing financial expertise to other departments.

Wallen continued to progress in their career and became the Controller and Business Manager at Legal Times in 2006. Chip then joined CQ Roll Call in 2008 as the Chief Financial Officer. Wallen's next role was as the VP Finance and Operations at Bulletin Intelligence in 2012.

Most recently, Wallen served as the Chief Financial Officer at McArdle, a Bloomberg BNA Company, where they were responsible for financial and human resource operations. In 2017, they joined the US Naval Institute as their Chief Financial Officer.

Chip Wallen attended Oakton High School from 1981 to 1985, where they completed their high school education. Chip then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry at the University of Virginia from 1985 to 1989. After a few years, they furthered their education at the William & Mary – Raymond A. Mason School of Business, where they obtained an MBA degree from 1992 to 1994.
