Luis Betancourt, P.E. currently serves as Branch Chief at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, where leadership encompasses a team of data scientists and reactor systems engineers focused on nuclear safety research involving artificial intelligence and space nuclear applications. With a career at the NRC beginning in August 2008, previous roles included advising the Executive Team on nuclear technology policies and licensing oversight, managing a business unit of engineers and scientists, and overseeing technical direction for instrumentation and controls. Luis's experience also includes project management related to digital instrumentation and controls, as well as internships at GE Aviation and Stryker. Luis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
