Abigail Houston

Abigail Houston has extensive experience in managed care operations, credentialing, and contract negotiation. Abigail began their career in 2000 at Providence Healthcare Network, where they managed front office operations and assisted with accounts receivable duties. Abigail then joined FirstCare Health Plans in 2005 as a Credentialing Supervisor and Lead Provider Relations Representative, overseeing a regional network of providers. In 2009, Abigail moved to Cigna as a Contract Manager and Reimbursement Analyst, negotiating contracts and analyzing reimbursement patterns. Abigail later joined Concentra in 2013, initially as a Group Health/Managed Care Contract Negotiator and was promoted to Manager, Group Health Credentialing. In this role, they oversaw the credentialing of 5000+ providers and established strategic goals for their team. Most recently, they worked at U.S. Renal Care as a Manager and was later promoted to Director of Managed Care Operations. In this role, they were responsible for health plan credentialing and reimbursement optimization. Abigail has a strong track record in managing credentialing processes and negotiating contracts in the healthcare industry.

Abigail Houston holds a Master's degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Western Governors University, which they earned between 2016 and 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from Tarleton State University from 2006 to 2008. Abigail also holds an Associate's degree in Medical Office Management/Administration from McLennan Community College, which they obtained between 1999 and 2001. In addition to their formal education, Abigail has obtained several certifications, including being a Certified Instructor from BollyX, Inc., a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist from NAMSS - National Association Medical Staff Services, a Certified Zumba Instructor (ZIN) from Zumba, and a Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Scholarship from McLennan Community College.
