Chris Axness

Chris Axness has extensive experience in the mining industry. Most recently, they served as the Senior Director of Operations at U.S. Silica Company since February 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of Operations at Black Mountain Sand from April 2017 to February 2020. In this role, they played a key role in the startup of multiple quarries and processing facilities. Before joining Black Mountain Sand, Chris worked at Unimin Corporation for over ten years. Chris'sroles at Unimin included General Manager Optimization and Capital Projects, General Manager Operations, Plant Manager, Operations Project Manager, Plant Superintendent, and Production Supervisor. Throughout their career, Chris has demonstrated strong leadership, project management skills, and expertise in optimizing operations and implementing transformation projects.

Chris Axness attended Iowa State University from 2002 to 2006, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.
