Anya Filanovsky, MHSA

Anya Filanovsky has a diverse work experience spanning over several years in the healthcare industry. Anya began their career at Children's Hospital of Michigan, where they worked as a Benefit Specialist in Benefit Administration. In this role, they acted as a liaison between hospital employees and insurance providers, calculated payments for prospective retirees, and implemented a new Flexible Benefit program.

Anya then moved on to Health Alliance Plan (HAP), where they worked as an Information Analyst in the Managed-Care Division. Here, they assisted in implementing cost-containment projects, researched utilization trends, and compiled claims data for reports.

After HAP, Anya joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where they held several roles. Anya started as a Rating Specialist I in Underwriting, determining monthly rates for existing business and supporting annual settlements. Anya then became a Rating Specialist II, preparing monthly premium rates and meeting with customer groups to explain underwriting policies. Anya later became a Team Leader II/Program Coordinator in Case Management, managing a team of benefit analysts and clerks, supporting the department manager, and filling various positions. Anya also worked as an Administrative Manager in Wellness and Care Management Operations, overseeing a team of 14 staff and driving productivity and cost reductions.

Currently, Anya is working at UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust as a Sr. Business Lead for Self Insured Plans, a role they started in 2017.

Anya Filanovsky has pursued a Master of Science in Health Services Administration (MSHSA) with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Central Michigan University. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Michigan, with a concentration in Business Administration and Management, General.
