Joan Romani Aumedes

Joan Romani Aumedes, PhD, is a seasoned professional in the fields of biomedicine and pharmacovigilance, currently serving as Team Manager and Senior Safety Scientist at UBC since January 2018. Prior experience includes roles as a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL, where Joan led projects focused on the pathological spreading of alpha-synuclein, and as a visiting research scientist at Hochschule Kaiserslautern. In academia, Joan completed a PhD at Universitat de Barcelona, studying synaptic dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases, and has held positions in research and development at Almirall and Columbia University Medical Center. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedicine, a Master's in Pharmaceutical Industry, and an undergraduate degree in Biology.
