Maria Dimakopoulou serves as the Director of Engineering for Marketplace at Uber, leading the Mobility Simulation & Planning organization focused on pricing and incentives. Prior to Uber, Maria was at Spotify from January 2022 to February 2025, where roles included Director of ML Engineering, Company Bet Strategy Lead, and Head of Homepage Personalization, overseeing large teams to enhance content discovery and personalized recommendations for a user base of over 640 million. Maria’s experience also includes significant contributions at Netflix from December 2018 to January 2022, where Maria advanced adaptive experimentation techniques and causal machine learning applications, and earlier roles at Microsoft and Salesforce as a Visiting Research Scientist. Maria holds a Ph.D. in Reinforcement Learning & Causal Inference and a Master's degree in Operations Research from Stanford University.
