Sophia Karagiorgou has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Sophia currently works as a Projects Reviewer and Expert/Proposals Evaluator for the European Commission, starting in 2019. Prior to that, they were the Head of AI & ML Group-Senior R&D Delivery Manager at UBITECH starting in 2018. Sophia also holds the position of Adjunct Lecturer at Harokopio University of Athens, teaching courses in Artificial Intelligence. Sophia previously held a similar position at the University of Piraeus, specializing in Database Management Systems and Data Management. Sophia also has experience as a Senior Big Data Analytics Consultant and Senior Presales Consultant at INTRASOFT International and as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Assistant at the "Athena" Research and Innovation Center. Additionally, they have worked as a Software Engineer & DB Administrator at the Energy Financing Team (EFT Group) and as a Research Assistant at the National Technical University of Athens.
Sophia Karagiorgou holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, which they completed from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Thessally between 2006 and 2008. Sophia'sundergraduate studies were completed at the University of Crete, Department of Computer Science, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from 2001 to 2006. In addition to their formal education, Sophia obtained the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice in 2017.
