Jesse Rothstein is an accomplished academic and policy expert currently serving as the Director of the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California, Berkeley, since July 2024. Since 2010, Jesse Rothstein has held multiple roles at UC Berkeley, including Director of the Center for Studies of Higher Education, Professor of Economics and Public Policy, and Faculty Director of the California Policy Lab. Additionally, Jesse Rothstein has been a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and served as Director of the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment from 2015 to June 2020. Past experiences include roles as Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Labor and Senior Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers. Jesse Rothstein earned a Ph.D. and MPP from the University of California, Berkeley, and a degree in Mathematics from Harvard University.
