Matthew P. Sherburne

Matthew P. Sherburne currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Berkeley Educational Alliance for Research in Singapore (BEARS) since June 2023. In addition to this role, Matthew has been the Director of International Partnerships at the College of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, since June 2014 and also held the position of Program Director for the Research Initiative for Sustainable Energy. Furthermore, Matthew has extensive experience as an independent engineering consultant since 2006 and served as Teaching Faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from August 2012 to June 2014. Matthew's earlier roles include Special Assistant to the Chair in Materials Science and Engineering at UC Berkeley and Graduate Student Researcher in both Materials Science and Engineering and at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where research focused on advanced materials and nanotechnology. Matthew holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, along with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, all obtained from the University of California, Berkeley.
