Sam Pottinger

Sam Pottinger is a seasoned Senior Research Data Scientist and Software Engineer at the University of California, Berkeley since February 2023, bringing extensive expertise in data science and software engineering. Previous roles include Director of Data and Digital Technologies at Clara Foods™, where efforts focused on food sustainability and advancing machine learning initiatives, and Senior Data Scientist at IDEO, working on projects related to health, sustainability, and food systems. Pottinger also operated as Principal Data Scientist at Data Driven Empathy LLC, managing data science consulting for various industries. Notable leadership experience includes serving as Head of CS at Plenty, where cross-disciplinary teams were managed for indoor agriculture, and a background in data roles at tech giants such as Apple and Google.
