Samantha Smith is a dedicated PhD graduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on Molecular and Cellular Biology, expected to complete studies in 2024. Prior experience includes serving as an IRTA Postbac at The National Institutes of Health, where important research was conducted on the nuclear role of Abnormal Spindle Microcephaly Protein and protein interactions during mitosis. Samantha also contributed to a research project at Carnegie Mellon University, exploring APC’s function in the Wnt signaling pathway and its implications for colorectal cancer in Drosophila melanogaster embryos. Additional experience includes a lab assistant role at the Center for Infectious Disease Research, investigating protein interactions in Plasmodium yoelii sporozoite biology. Education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
