Marie Zimmerman has extensive experience in the healthcare industry, with a focus on Medicaid transformation and public affairs. Marie is currently serving as the Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief Strategy Officer at UCare since April 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at UCare from February 2022 to April 2023. Before joining UCare, Zimmerman worked at Aurrera Health Group, where they served as the Vice President of Medicaid Transformation & Financing from February 2020 to January 2022. Marie also worked as a Strategic Partner at Aurrera Health Group from October 2019 to February 2020. Zimmerman has also held various leadership roles at the Minnesota Department of Human Services, including Assistant Commissioner of Health Care & State Medicaid Director from February 2019 to September 2019. Marie also worked at Hennepin Healthcare as the VP of Public Funding & Medicaid Transformation in 2018. Zimmerman's earlier experience includes serving as the State Medicaid Director at the Minnesota Department of Human Services from December 2014 to November 2018, as well as roles such as Health Care Policy Director and Deputy Director Managed Care & Payment Policy during their tenure with the department from 2006 to 2018. Prior to their work at the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Zimmerman served as a Fiscal Analyst at the Minnesota State Legislature from January 2002 to November 2006.
Marie Zimmerman has a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Minnesota, which they obtained from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that, they earned a BA from the University of St. Thomas from 1996 to 2000, with majors in Economics and Political Science.
