Aviv Paz

Aviv Paz is an academic and research scientist with a robust background in structural biology and biophysics. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo since January 2025, Aviv Paz also holds the position of Associate Research Scientist at Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute since June 2018. In addition, Aviv Paz has been an Assistant Project Scientist at UCLA since February 2010, focusing on the structural studies and transport dynamics of sodium-dependent sugar transporters and voltage-dependent anion channels. This work integrates advanced techniques such as x-ray crystallography, serial femto-second crystallography, and various spectroscopic methods to achieve high-resolution insights into transport mechanisms. Aviv Paz earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Structural Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science, where studies were conducted from 2003 to 2009, and a Master’s Degree in Biophysics from Bar-Ilan University from 2001 to 2003.
