Janel Pineda

Janel Pineda is an experienced educator and nonprofit professional currently serving as a Graduate Instructor and Teaching Assistant at UCLA in the Departments of Chicana/o and Central American Studies and English Composition since September 2023. Previously, Janel held roles at Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) as Development Associate and Communications and Marketing Coordinator, alongside experience as a Programs Associate at WriteGirl and an English Language Arts Tutor at A Place Called Home. Janel has developed culturally relevant curricula and provided academic support, while also engaging in fundraising and advocacy for social justice causes through CISPES. Janel's education includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Chicana/o and Central American Studies from UCLA, a Master of Philosophy in Latin American Studies from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Arts in Creative Writing and Education from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Bachelor's Degree in English and Creative Writing from Dickinson College.
