Rene Chun is an experienced researcher with a focus on periprosthetic joint infection prevention and treatment in a mouse model at UCLA since 2007. Previous experience includes serving as a Research Scientist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from 1998 to 2007, where involvement was in a Vitamin D research group within the endocrinology department. Prior to that, Rene was a Post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, concentrating on neural cell death mechanisms, and at the National Institutes of Health, conducting HIV research on tat protein. Rene began research training as a Graduate Student at UC Irvine, studying HIV tat protein and Moloney murine leukemia virus pathogenesis. Academic credentials include a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Irvine and a BS in Chemistry and Biochemistry from UCLA.
