Ian S. Soriano, MD has extensive experience in the field of surgery. Ian S. is currently serving as the Director of Robotic Surgery and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Ian S. is also the Medical Director and Surgeon Champion at UCSF Health.

Prior to their current positions, Dr. Soriano held various roles at the University of the Philippines, including Visiting Associate Professor and Visiting Assistant Professor of Surgery. Ian S. also served as a Visiting Professor at St. Luke's Medical Center.

Dr. Soriano has been actively involved in research and academia, serving as an Associate Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and an Editorial Board member for Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases. Ian S. has also been a Fellow at the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.

Throughout their career, Dr. Soriano has held leadership positions such as Physician Liaison, Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery, and Surgeon Champion for the ACS NSQIP at PENNSYLVANIA HOSPITAL OF THE UNIV OF PENNSYLVANIA HEALTH SYSTEM.

Ian S. is recognized for their expertise in gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery and has contributed to the field through various publications and teaching roles, including the Co-Director of the Surgery Capstone Course at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Dr. Ian S. Soriano completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Basic Medical Sciences from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine from 1990 to 1994. Ian S. then pursued a Doctor of Medicine degree at the same institution from 1992 to 1997. In 2020, Dr. Soriano enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and obtained a Certificate in Health Improvement & Patient Safety, which they completed in 2022.

In addition to their academic achievements, Dr. Soriano has obtained certifications from the Academy for Surgical Coaching in 2022 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery in 2007.
