Laura Esserman serves as the Director of the UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center and holds the Alfred A. deLorimier Chair in General Surgery at UCSF Medical Center. As a Principal Investigator for the WISDOM initiative and the I-SPY TRIAL Program, both focused on personalized approaches to breast cancer screening and clinical trial innovation, Esserman is also the Founder of the Athena Breast Health Network, a comprehensive breast cancer initiative in California. In addition to these roles, Esserman has been a Professor of Surgery & Radiology and co-leader of the Breast Oncology Program at UCSF, contributing significantly to multidisciplinary cancer care. Educational credentials include an M.B.A. from Stanford University, a Doctor of Medicine from Stanford University, and a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University.
