Tomás Ó Síocháin serves as the CEO of Údarás na Gaeltachta since December 2022, leading the development authority for Ireland's Irish-speaking regions. Prior to this, Tomás held the position of CEO at the Western Development Commission from September 2018 to December 2022, promoting the economic and cultural development of the West of Ireland. Tomás also worked as the External Engagement Programme Manager at the University of Galway from December 2014 to September 2018, overseeing initiatives related to regional development and higher education integration. Earlier experience includes roles as a Management and Communications Consultant at Steelesrock Strategy Consulting, Programme Editor at RTÉ, and Broadcast Journalist at TG4. Tomás holds multiple degrees from the University of Galway, including an MBA, LLB, and a H.Dip in Applied Communications, and completed executive education at MIT Sloan in 2020.

Cuidíonn an fhostaíocht a chruthaítear le pobal na Gaeltachta a bhuanú agus mar thoradh ar sin déantar an Ghaeilge mar theanga labhartha sna ceantair sin a neartú. Déanann an tÚdarás gach iarracht an cuspóir seo a bhaint amach trí fhorbairt fiontraíochta agus tionscnaimh chruthaithe fostaíochta a chothú agus a mhaoiniú, chomh maith le tacaíocht a thabhairt d’eagrais phobail agus d’imeachtaí teangabhunaithe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Údarás na Gaeltachta’s role as a regional development authority is to stimulate job-creation by supporting and encouraging the development of enterprise in the Gaeltacht. The employment created helps to stabilise Gaeltacht communities and thereby strengthen Irish as a living language in the Gaeltacht. The authority endeavours to achieve that objective by funding and fostering a wide range of enterprise development and job creation initiatives and by supporting strategic language, cultural and community based activities.
