Nick Aitken

Media Manager at UEFA

Nick Aitken has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the sports industry. Nick began their career in 2000 as a La Liga expert at Press Association Sport and then moved on to Sports Translations Ltd in 2005, where they served as the Translation Manager. At Sports Translations, they managed a team of freelancers and ensured the quality and accuracy of English content. In 2014, they became a Freelance Contributor for Women's Soccer United and in 2016, a Freelance Writer for Nick Kicks.

From 2013 to 2018, Aitken worked at UEFA, initially as a UEFA.com English reporter where they covered matches in UEFA competitions and interviewed former champions. Nick then took on the role of Content & Correspondents Coordinator, where they coordinated the content produced and logistical coordination of the UEFA media team attending tournaments. Additionally, they managed a network of 55 editorial correspondents.

In 2018, Aitken co-founded Onuba Communications, a company focused on women's football and futsal, as well as digital communication and language services.

Throughout their career, Aitken has demonstrated a strong passion for sports and language, combining them to connect with global audiences.

Nick Aitken attended Hymers College, although the duration and degree obtained are unknown. Nick then pursued a degree in International Business Management & Spanish at Newcastle University from 1996 to 2000. In 2004 and 2005, they obtained a Diploma de español (C2) from Instituto Cervantes, focusing on the Spanish language. In 2020, Nick attended the Sports Business Institute Barcelona, specializing in Football Marketing & Management. In addition to their formal education, they obtained various certifications from LinkedIn, including B2B Marketing Foundations: Pricing Strategies, Growing Your Small Business with LinkedIn, Content Marketing: Social Media, Content Marketing: Staying Relevant, and Writing a Marketing Plan, all obtained in 2018.
