Darek Koper

Project Director E-mobility at UGL LTD

Darek Koper has a diverse and extensive work experience. Darek began their career as a Production Planner at Mostostal Slupca in 1986 and later worked as a Manufacturing Technician at Unilever from 1988 to 1992, where they implemented innovative solutions in the manufacturing process.

After this, Darek worked as a Freelancing Translator and Entrepreneur from 1992 to 1995, translating for US and EU consultants and also specializing in import and distribution of personal care products.

In 1995, they joined BP as an Operations Manager in the BP Dealer Network, where they held various management roles, overseeing multiple BP retail sites and service stations. Darek managed a team of up to 70 employees and was responsible for operations and HR management within the group.

Darek then moved on to NZ Bus in 2007, where they held several leadership positions, including Operations Team Leader, Operations Manager for Go Wellington, General Manager for Southwest, and General Manager for Fleet. In these roles, they implemented strategic projects to improve fleet performance and meet regulatory requirements, as well as managed event bus transportation during the 2011 RWC.

In 2017, Darek joined Auckland Transport as the Group Manager for Metro Services. During their tenure, they held various roles, including Acting Group Manager, Manager for Metro Specification, and Metro Decarbonisation Manager. Darek also served as the AT Metro Manager for Bus Services, where they successfully operationalized Auckland's new bus network and enhanced the public transport experience for Aucklanders.

Currently, Darek is working as a Decarbonisation Consultant at Decarb Pathways Limited, focusing on advising and guiding organizations on their decarbonisation journey. Darek is also set to join UGL in 2023 as a Project Director for E-Mobility.

Darek Koper pursued a Master of Business Administration degree in Executive Leadership from Massey University, from 2014 to 2016. Darek also attended the NZ Institute of Management from 2006 to 2009, where they studied Business Management. In addition, they attended Technical College in Slupca, Poland from 1982 to 1986.
