Matthew Karunakaran

Matthew Karunakaran is an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering, currently serving as Head of Engineering, Mechanical for Major Transport Projects at UGL since September 2017. In this role, Matthew has also contributed as Engineering Manager for both the North East Link and CRR TSD projects. Prior to this, Matthew held various engineering management and design roles at UGL involving significant projects such as WestConnex and the Melbourne Metro Tender. Matthew's extensive experience in design and project management is further underscored by previous positions including Design Manager for the Caltex Hobart Fire System Upgrade and Senior Mechanical Engineer for key infrastructure projects like the CLEM7 Tunnel and M5 East Tunnel. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from UNSW.
