Irshad Mohammed

Irshad Mohammed is an experienced leader in applied AI and machine learning, currently serving as the Vice President of Product at Optum UnitedHealth Group since June 2025, where responsibilities include developing AI-first products for healthcare providers. Prior to this role, Irshad held a managerial position at Amazon, overseeing applied scientists and data scientists in creating machine learning systems for the advertising platform. Previous experience includes managing a data science team at Google, contributing to sales strategies, and developing predictive solutions. Earlier positions featured research roles at Pattern Computer, focusing on healthcare applications, and Fermilab, working on cosmological problems using machine learning techniques. Irshad holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the Physics Institute, University of Zurich, and a Master's degree in the same field from The University of Bonn.
