Samantha Welsh

Samantha Welsh has extensive work experience in the laboratory field. Samantha started their career in 2010 as a Laboratory Analyst at Cellmark Forensic Services, where they focused on DNA extraction and STR profiling for the National DNA Database as well as DNA analysis for paternity cases. Samantha then moved on to UK Biobank in 2012, starting as a Laboratory Technician and later advancing to Assistant Laboratory Manager, Senior Project Manager, Laboratory Manager, and their current role as Head of Laboratory. Throughout their positions at UK Biobank, Samantha has been involved in various responsibilities, including the running of the laboratory, planning and implementation of projects requiring access to stored samples, and overall management.

Samantha Welsh earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Forensic Science from the University of Central Lancashire, which they attended from 2006 to 2009. Samantha then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in DNA Profiling from the same university, which they completed from 2009 to 2010.
