Adrian Buckle is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in leadership roles within the financial sector. Currently serving as the Head of Research and Chief Economist at UK Finance since July 2017, Adrian has previously held the position of Chief Economist at Payments UK from July 2015 to June 2017 and was Principal Advisor for Policy and Markets at the Payments Council from April 2010 to June 2015. Prior to these roles, Adrian worked as a Senior Economic Advisor at the BBC and as an Economic Advisor at the Competition Commission (UK). Early in the career, Adrian gained experience as a Principal Case Officer (Economist) at the Office of Fair Trading and as a Consultant at NERA Economic Consulting. Adrian holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Newcastle University.
