Brian Cunniffe

Head Of Performance Support at UK Sports Institute

Brian Cunniffe has a diverse work experience in the field of sports science. Brian has held various roles in different organizations, starting with their position as a Research Scientist at WRU in 2004. Brian then worked as a Part-time Lecturer at the University of South Wales from 2004 to 2008. Following this, Cunniffe worked as a Senior Performance Scientist at the English Institute of Sport from 2008 to 2011. Brian then joined the British Olympic Association as a Senior Sports Scientist from 2011 to 2013. Cunniffe also had multiple roles with the British & Irish Lions, serving as a Sports Scientist in 2013, 2017, and 2021. Currently, they are the Head of Performance Support at the English Institute of Sport since August 2017.

Brian Cunniffe holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of South Wales, which they obtained from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed an MSc in Sports and Exercise Nutrition at Loughborough University from 2003 to 2004. Their undergraduate degree is a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Limerick, which they earned from 1999 to 2003.
