UK Young Academy
Alistair McConnell is an accomplished academic and entrepreneur with extensive experience in robotics and engineering. Currently, Alistair serves as a Member of the UK Young Academy and Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University. As a co-founder of Mask Logic Ltd., Alistair has played a key role in developing innovative solutions. Prior to these roles, Alistair was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh, contributing to the ORCA Hub project focused on autonomous offshore energy systems and leading the 3DPPE Project that developed personalized masks using advanced manufacturing techniques. Alistair has a strong background in public engagement in robotics and holds a PhD in a novel soft orthotic device for stroke rehabilitation. Additionally, Alistair founded Exomotion, a company dedicated to creating soft robotic systems for stroke recovery. Alistair's educational credentials include Master's degrees in Robotics and Cybertronics from Heriot-Watt University.
