UK Young Academy
Catarina Vicente is a distinguished professional with extensive experience in public engagement and scientific strategy. Currently serving as a Founding Member at the UK Young Academy since January 2023, Catarina also holds the position of Head of Scientific Strategy and Projects at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology and is an Official Fellow in Public Engagement with Research at Reuben College, University of Oxford, where interdisciplinary public engagement projects are co-led. Catarina's previous role as Public Engagement and Communications Officer at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine involved managing communications and implementing recognized public engagement initiatives. Additional experience includes serving as Senior Digital Communications Officer at Lady Margaret Hall and Community Manager for The Node at The Company of Biologists. Catarina earned a Ph.D. in Chromosome and Developmental Biology from the University of Oxford, following an undergraduate placement at Imperial College London and a Bachelor's Degree in Genetics from the University of York.
