John Schertel

John Schertel is a seasoned fire and life safety professional with over 25 years of experience in the field. They served as a Conformance Manager at AAI from 2013 to 2021, where they managed product safety testing and compliance with various national and international standards. Currently, John holds the position of Staff Engineer for Fire Alarm Control Panels at UL Solutions, focusing on regulatory compliance and product safety testing. They have also worked as a Lieutenant/EMT with the City of Farmington Hills since 2002, responding to emergency situations and providing training in fire operations and emergency medical response. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety with a concentration in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University.
