Lead System Protection Engineer at Ulteig

Matthew Boese has a diverse work experience. Matthew started their career at Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) as a Chemistry Tutor from September 2014 to May 2015. Matthew then worked as an Intern at Otter Tail Corporation from May 2015 to January 2016, where they used Microsoft Office programs, attended training courses, and documented results. Matthew then joined North Dakota State University as part of a Senior Design Project, where they designed distance relay protection for a substation from January 2017 to December 2017. After that, they worked at Ulteig as a Substation Intern from May 2016 to December 2017. In this role, they performed grounding studies, analyzed lightning protection, and updated physical and protection and control drawing sets. Matthew then transitioned to a Graduate Engineer role at Ulteig from January 2018 to March 2019, where they focused on substation physical design and analysis, as well as protection and control tasks. Matthew later became a Design Engineer at Ulteig from March 2019 to September 2022. Currently, Matthew is working as a System Protection Engineer at Ulteig, starting in September 2022.

Matthew Boese earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from North Dakota State University, where they studied from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate's Degree in Chemistry from Minnesota State Community and Technical College, where they attended from 2012 to 2015. In addition to their degree qualifications, Matthew Boese also holds a Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the Minnesota Board of AELSLAGID, which they obtained in July 2022.
