Ultima Genomics
Richard Graetz is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in mechatronics and product development. Currently serving as Principal Mechatronics Engineer at Ultima Genomics since March 2018, Richard has successfully built and led a team focused on electrical design and automation for innovative sequencing instruments, including the development of hardware, firmware, and software for real-time auto-focus applications. Prior to this role, Richard worked at KLA-Tencor as a Product Development Engineer, where firmware for a 5-axis machine tool was developed, alongside motion control and data acquisition systems. Richard's academic background includes a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, coupled with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Mechatronics from the same institution. Early career experience includes a research-focused internship at Robert Bosch GmbH and a Graduate Research Assistant position at the UBC Precision Mechatronics Laboratory, where significant advancements in angle measurement accuracy were achieved.
