Robert Sampson

Robert Sampson is a Principal Software Engineer at Ultra Maritime since July 2020, with prior experience as a Senior Software Engineer at the same company. Between October 2015 and July 2020, Robert served as a Project Leader at TWI, focusing on innovative projects in additive manufacturing and non-destructive testing technologies within the aerospace and oil & gas sectors, including managing external funding applications for technical projects. As a Ph.D. student at Swansea University from 2015 to 2018, Robert conducted research on additive manufacturing processes, particularly in direct energy deposition, implementing infrared optical hardware for real-time monitoring of melt pool activity. Robert holds a Ph.D. in Material Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Material Science, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, all from Swansea University.
