Erik Preston

Erik Preston is the SVP of engineering and technical operations at Ultra Mobile. Erik has over fifteen years of experience in the engineering and IT industry, with a focus on telecom and cloud-based solutions.

Erik started their career as a field support engineer for Muve Music, where they were responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the Muve Music service for carriers in North and South America. Erik also created custom application, OS, hardware, and network monitoring solutions for operational visibility into Xymon, Cacti, & Splunk.

Erik then spent two years at Citrix as a professional services consulting manager and professional services engineer. In this role, they managed a worldwide consulting team to deploy solutions for various telecom providers in the Americas. Erik was also responsible for deploying enterprise systems to improve Video Optimization and Policy Enforcement for telecom providers in North America.

Erik has been with Ultra Mobile for seven years, where they have held various positions including SVP of engineering and technical operations, VP of technology, director of systems engineering, and sr. manager - system engineering. In their current role, Erik is responsible for maintaining Technical Operations and creating a new DevOps group that will mesh well with our Development, Infrastructure and Operational teams. Erik also drives automation and scale with tools and not resources.

Erik Preston has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Metropolitan State College of Denver in Computer Information Systems, which they completed in 2006-2008. Erik also has an education from SGCA. Lastly, they are a Cisco Certified Network Administrator from Cisco.

Erik Preston is the Senior Vice President of Engineering at Ultra Mobile & Mint Mobile. Erik has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Ultra, Preston was the Chief Technical Officer at T-Mobile.
