Stephen Nale

Stephen Nale's work experience spans a variety of roles in the music and entertainment industry. Stephen started their career as a Programming Coordinator at Sirius XM Radio Inc., where they programmed music and managed on-air talent for music channels. Stephen then worked as a Litigation Support at Kaye Scholer LLP before joining Sedlmayr & Associates, P.C. as a Law Clerk, where they secured rights for major label recording artists and handled legal research and corporate issues.

Stephen then transitioned to Shutterstock, first as an IP Compliance Associate, where they monitored and protected intellectual property assets, and later as Counsel, advising on intellectual property standards and drafting various agreements. Stephen joined Universal Music Group as a Director of Business & Legal Affairs, providing counsel on artist signings, marketing, and general business matters across East Coast labels.

Stephen's next position was at Roc Nation, where they served as Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs, overseeing contractual and business-related matters for various properties. Stephen negotiated and structured agreements across different areas, including recording, publishing, management, distribution, and new media.

Most recently, Stephen worked at The Nale Firm, P.C. as the owner, where they drafted and negotiated agreements encompassing recording, publishing, management, endorsement, and various talent and services agreements. Stephen also provided corporate counseling to clients for successful LLCs, C-Corps, and partnerships, and advised on copyright and trademark issues.

Currently, Stephen holds the position of Senior Director of Business and Legal Affairs at Ultra Records, where they continue to leverage their expertise in the music industry to handle contractual and legal matters.

Stephen Nale pursued their education at Trinity College-Hartford, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government. Stephen attended the college from 2002 to 2006. Subsequently, they furthered their academic journey by enrolling at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. From 2009 to 2012, Stephen Nale diligently studied at the law school and successfully obtained a Doctor of Law (JD) degree, specializing in Intellectual Property Law.
