Jaco Jacobs has over 15 years of experience in quality, regulatory and compliance management within the medical device industry. Jaco has a proven track record in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS), as well as leading submissions for regulatory clearance of new products.
Jacobs began their career at Perspectum Diagnostics Ltd in July 2017, where they served as Chief Compliance Officer (Quality and Regulatory). In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of quality and regulatory affairs, including expanding and managing the Quality Assurance, Software Quality Assurance, Clinical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs Teams. Jaco also oversaw the submission of technical files for regulatory clearance and worked closely with Product Managers on getting the company's portfolio of medical devices regulatory cleared.
In March 2021, Jacobs transitioned to their current role as Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer at Ultromics. In this role, they are responsible for management, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, clinical affairs, and information and cybersecurity. Jaco is also responsible for leading the implementation of ISO 27001 and ensuring compliance with FDA's cybersecurity guidance.
Jaco Jacobs has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cambridge, a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, and a Master of Science in Software Engineering from the University of Oxford. Jaco also has a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems from Stellenbosch University/Universiteit Stellenbosch.
