Senior Clinical Research Scientist at Ultromics

Will Hawkes has worked in a variety of roles in the scientific and policy fields. From 2011 to 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant (Voluntary) at London South Bank University, followed by a role as a Data Analyst - Client Services & Production at IMS Health from 2014 to 2015. During this time, they also worked as a Research Assistant - Division of Human Sciences at London South Bank University, where they tested the effects of the FitFlop Sandal plantar pressure distribution and shock absorption, and investigated the efficacy of the WalkActive technique to improve physical wellbeing. From 2015 to 2018, they worked as a PhD Student at King's College London, based in The Randall Division of Cell and Molecular Biophysics. Theirwork aimed to investigate the role of mechanotransduction and integrin signalling within the heart. In 2018, they worked as a Policy Advisor at The Cabinet Office, HM Government, where they worked as an independent consultant and developed working relationships between policy officials in Whitehall and academics from various universities. Will also led a review on current challenges facing competition policy. Currently, Will Hawkes is a Senior Clinical Research Scientist and Clinical Research Scientist at Ultromics since 2019.

Will Hawkes completed a BTEC National Diploma Sports Performance and Excellence at Exeter College from 2007 to 2009. Will then went on to London South Bank University where they earned a Sport Science degree and was awarded Best Undergraduate Student from 2010 to 2013. Hawkes continued their education at the University of Surrey where they earned a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2013 to 2015. Finally, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in mechanotransduction in the developing heart at King's College London from 2015 to 2019.
