Todd Master is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Umbra. Prior to this, they were a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) from 2016-2021. From 2014-2015, they were a Reservist at the United States Air Force, where they researched, analyzed and published national WMD proliferation studies for OSD, SecDef, JCS, and NSC, and developed technical concepts and architectures for new NRO systems for space-based intelligence sources and methods. From 2015-2016, they were a Mission Systems Engineer at Orbital ATK (now Northrop Grumman). From 2008-2015, they were a Systems Engineer at ATK, where they pioneered new procurement approaches for space-as-a-service for GEO space situational awareness data and on-orbit satellite life extension, and led multiple proposal efforts on one-of-a-kind national security systems. From 2007-2008, they were a Program Director and Launch Operations Manager at International Launch Services. From 2005-2007, they were an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, where they provided technical and policy expertise to DARPA clients for managing efforts in space systems development and engineering, launch integration, and on-orbit operation of space systems. From 2000-2005, they were an Atlas Mission Manager at the United States Air Force, where they oversaw the acquisition, development, design, manufacturing, acceptance testing, and launch operations of main engines and solid rocket boosters for Atlas II and III rockets, and managed space vehicle to launch vehicle interface for NRO payloads.
Todd Master received their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering & Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University in 2000. Todd then went on to receive their Master of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2005.
