Alfred Hero is the John H. Holland Distinguished University Professor and R. Jamison and Betty Williams Professor at the University of Michigan. Their research group focuses on developing foundational theory and methodology for data science and engineering, applying it across diverse fields such as public health, materials science, and computational finance. Previously, Hero served as Co-Director of the Michigan Institute for Data Science and held the position of Chaired Professor at DIGITEO. They earned a PhD in Information Sciences and Systems from Princeton University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Boston University.
