Kira Barton is a highly experienced academic in the field of mechanical engineering, currently serving as a Professor at the University of Michigan since August 2011. Barton progressed through academic ranks from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. Prior to this, Barton was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from August 2004 to June 2011, focusing on controls and micro/nano-manufacturing. Barton holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2004-2010) and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder (1997-2001). Additional experience includes positions as Engineer I at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Engineer at British Petroleum.
