Lia Corrales

Lia Corrales is an accomplished astrophysicist currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Astronomy at the University of Michigan since September 2020, while also holding the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate at the MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research since August 2014. With a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Columbia University, attained in 2014, Lia has focused on X-ray scattering through dust in interstellar and intergalactic environments, including calibration for high-resolution imaging with the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Prior experience includes developing Python code for modeling X-ray light scattering and a part-time role as a Software Engineer at Rage Tank, where Lia developed back-end solutions for GPS data transformation.
