Sharon Glotzer currently serves as the Anthony Lembke Department Head of Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan, a position held since 2017. Sharon has an extensive background in academia, having been a member of the University of Michigan Chemical Engineering faculty since April 2001, where roles have included John W. Cahn Distinguished University Professor of Engineering and Stuart W. Churchill Collegiate Professor of Chemical Engineering. Prior to this, Sharon worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology from 1993 to 2000, where responsibilities included directing the Center for Theoretical and Computational Materials Science and functioning as a physicist in the Polymers Division. Early career experience includes a technical staff position at TRW Technology Group. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Physics from Boston University and a cum laude Bachelor of Science in Physics from UCLA.
