Sol Bermann serves as the Executive Director of Privacy & Faculty Affairs in the Office of the VPIT-CIO at the University of Michigan since July 2024, overseeing privacy, IT policy, and faculty engagement in research and educational initiatives. As an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information, Bermann teaches courses on privacy and surveillance. Bermann's prior role as Chief Information Security Officer and Executive Director of Information Assurance at the University of Michigan Information and Technology Services involved managing a comprehensive information assurance program across multiple campuses. Additionally, Bermann held significant positions in both the State of Ohio and Wal-Mart, specializing in privacy governance, IT security, and policy development. Educational qualifications include a JD from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, an MA in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, and a BA in International Relations from Beloit College.
