Tim Cernak

Tim Cernak is an accomplished chemist with extensive experience in academia and industry. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan since March 2018, Tim previously held the position of Assistant Professor. Tim co-founded Iambic Therapeutics and served as Chief Scientific Officer from February 2021 to March 2022. Prior experience includes working as an Associate Principal Scientist at Merck from July 2009 to March 2018, where Tim focused on automation and capabilities enhancement in medicinal chemistry, as well as serving as a Senior Research Chemist in the Medicinal Chemistry team. Early professional experiences include a Research Assistant role at the Pacific Agri-Foods Research Center and an Assistant Chemist position at Battle Mountain Gold. Tim's educational background includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Chemical Synthesis from Columbia University, a PhD in Organic Chemistry from McGill University, and a BSc in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia Okanagan.
