Tom Baird

VP for Development at The University of Michigan

Tom Baird has been working in the field of development for many years. Tom started out as a quality consultant for John Hancock Financial Services. Tom then took a sabbatical to travel the world. When they returned, they became a major gifts officer for the University of Michigan. Tom later became the director of development for the university. In 2003, they left the University of Michigan to become the director of philanthropy for The Nature Conservancy. Tom returned to the University of Michigan in 2011 to become the vice chancellor. Tom is currently the vice president for development at the university.

Tom Baird completed an AB at the University of Michigan and then went on to complete a M.Ed in Human Resources Education at Boston University.

They work with Gerald L. Glasco - Senior Director, Office of Business & Financial Services, Chris Kolb - Vice President for Student Life, and Marschall S. Runge - Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs. Their manager is Mark S. Schlissel, President.
