Koen Gommers

Koen Gommers has extensive experience in the fields of metal refining, recycling processes, and environmental technology. Currently serving as the Nickel Refining Process Development Manager at Umicore since February 2007, Koen develops refining and recycling processes for battery materials and leads a team of process development engineers and project managers. Previous roles at Umicore include Refining & Recycling Operations Manager and Production Manager for the Refinery in Olen, along with experience as a Process Engineer and Project Manager for Environmental Technology R&D. Prior to Umicore, Koen worked at VITO as a Project Leader, managing projects related to wastewater treatment technologies. Koen holds a degree in Bio-Engineer Environmental Technology with Great Distinction from KU Leuven and has studied at Ghent University.
