Rik Smets

Rik Smets is an experienced professional currently serving as the PRA Leader and ATEX Expert at Umicore since May 2019, where responsibilities include process safety, explosion safety as a TÜV Certified ATEX Expert, and serving as a Hazop leader. Prior to this role, Rik worked as an Account Manager at Cartesio, managing client portfolios and recruitment in the engineering sector. Earlier experience includes positions at Avery Dennison as a Customer Quality Engineer, focusing on managing customer complaints and conducting root cause analysis, as well as serving as a Product Development Assistant. Rik holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology with a focus on Pharmaceutical and Biological Laboratory Technology from Thomas More Hogeschool and is currently pursuing further education at UCLL Research & Expertise.
