Ryohei (Hachi) Yagi is a Scientist and Project Manager specializing in Recycling & Extraction Technologies at Umicore since August 2020, focusing on the development of pyrometallurgical recycling methods for lithium-ion batteries. Concurrently, Ryohei serves as an Adjunctive Researcher at The University of Tokyo while previously holding a position as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from April 2019 to March 2020, where projects included direct electrolysis of molten copper concentrate and the construction of a large-scale reactor for this process. Prior experience also includes serving as a Research Fellow (DC2) at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science from April 2018 to March 2019. Ryohei holds a Doctor of Engineering in Materials Engineering from The University of Tokyo and has engaged in exchange studies in Nano Science at the University of Technology Sydney.
