Houtan Bassiri

Houtan Bassiri serves as the Head of the Brussels Office and Senior Advisor for EU Policy and Liaison at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), leading a team to enhance relationships with European Union institutions and partners. Prior to this role, Bassiri operated as an independent consultant, advising clients on development issues with a focus on partnerships and communications in Africa. Bassiri's extensive experience at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) included roles as Global Relationship Lead, Senior Partnerships Officer, Global Head of Advisory Communications, and Communications Officer for Africa, where significant contributions were made to private sector development programs and fund-raising initiatives. Earlier career experiences included positions at UNDP and in journalism, providing a solid foundation in economic policy and international relations. Houtan Bassiri holds a Master's degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Georgetown University.
